Baby finally got a name, "Adalynn Rose Palmer", and you, my loyal followers are the very first to know the final name. As of the posting of this blog...there is not one person besides Becca, the baby, and myself who know the outcome of this arduous endeavor. We did document it on video so the future teenager can know that we did not take this task lightly.
I am currently cleaning up the room, and have asked 3 separate nurses if there is a "funk" in our room. You really need to know if you're the funk producing type so you can take additional steps in the future to prevent it. However, each and every one of them has assured us that there is no funk, and that there have been rooms that they dread to go inside. I told them it was for our own good that they inform us...but you never know if you got the truth or something to make you feel better.
That being the case, we've lived in this room since Thursday morning at about 8 am after we left the recovery room. I have not showered, nor changed my underwear in all that time. I try to look at it as though I were camping, but i'm still struggling a bit. At least when you're camping, you've got the camp-fire to act as a natural deodorant. If you're smelling the funk...just stand a little closer to the fire for 5 minutes, and all your problems are smoked away.
Anyway, i'm more than ready for a shower and we still have an hour to go before we can leave...if they let us go. You ever feel hostage?
So, the room is well packed, and Becca is in the process of finding the clothing that will be adorning the child (which now has a name) into her first foray into the world. From here on out there will be nothing but firsts for the child. Kind of exciting, don't you think? What if you had a full week of brand new experiences...things you'd never before done at every turn. Never been outside, never been in a car, never seen a tree (although they're gray and leafless), birds, or even felt the wind (other than me blowing in her face to make her squint). Yes, the world is a very exciting place, and she's in a position to learn all about it. I admit, I am jealous.
Welcome to the world Adalynn......

P.S. Brent, thanks for sharing about your underwear ;)
I think that "funk" smell is usually coming from baby's diaper. :)
